Acupressure and Tui Na (Chinese Taoist) Massage
English
In person
Chinese pressure point massage, usually performed without oil with the client clothed, is particularly effective when applied to the digestive system (Chi Nei Tsang – visceral manipulation) and to the lymphatic system and of course, the feet.
Gentle massage will have a relaxing affect, often putting the recipient to sleep; while firm (sometimes even a little painful) massage of these areas will have a direct and often profound therapeutic benefit. Pain is an indicator of blockage that needs to be cleared for the body to be healthy and functional. It is usually for this reason that some pain during foot massage may be beneficial and is best dealt with by breathing slowly and deeply. Eventually the pain will subside even though the area may still be being massaged strongly.
