Sandra is a fully qualified and registered Australasian Association of Yoga Therapists (AAYT) yoga therapist who has been practising since 2017. She has completed her yoga therapy training and yoga teacher training in the Krishnamacharya tradition. Both of her teachers were taught by Krishnamacharya’s son, TKV Desikachar, where Viniyoga was the original yoga therapy. Her favourite aspect of yoga therapy is the connection that she is able to build with her clients and being able to help them on their healing journey. Sandra takes a holistic approach to her work which is highly individualised and tailored to each client’s specific needs. While the initial presenting issue may be physical (such as back pain), she often discovers additional challenges from musculoskeletal through to mental conditions and works with their whole body to help heal these issues. Due to her commitment to professionalism in yoga therapy and yoga teaching, Sandra has taken on the role of Secretary for AAYT. This allows her to stay up-to-date with advances in the profession via research, training, continuing education, international and national standards. She loves being informed and connected to her peers as well as having access to the best educators in the field. She is currently studying meditation to compliment her current offerings as well as chronic pain management so that she can further specialise in this area. Based in Townsville, she predominantly works with her clients in-person and also offers some of her services online via Zoom. Sandra looks forward to helping you with your yoga therapy practice, whether it be gentle and calming or strong and powerful - depending on what is suited to your needs. Read more
