Chetana has been teaching Satyananda yoga - a holistic and integral system that focuses on postures, breathing, deep relaxation, yoga Nidra, meditation and mantra - since 2008. Yoga is integral to Chetana’s life. She remembers first standing on that sticky blue mat in 1997 and yoga giving her a physical challenge that she thrived on. After suffering three car accidents however, she realised basic physical yoga wasn’t best suited to her body and at that point discovered Satyananda yoga, which she found more fulfilling and gave her a deep sense of inner peace. Chetana’s yoga teachings draw on her extensive yogic background. She incorporates the strength and alignment learned in her earlier years, weaves in the subtleties that Satyananda yoga has opened up to her, and draws on the experience gained through her ashram living, healing and daily practice. Specialising in teaching women, the reward for Chetana comes in seeing women’s self esteem and self-belief grow as they start to live a more purposeful and fulfilled life with more confidence, contentment and joy. Her clients become more comfortable in their own skin and can handle their challenges with a lot more ease. A client who had been experiencing two panic attacks a day was down to just one a fortnight after doing Chetana’s course specialising in stress and anxiety. She has set components within each class – asana (postures), pranayama (breathing) which balances and harmonises the nervous system and the deep relaxation of yoga Nidra which all help in managing stress, anxiety and overwhelm. Trained in classical Indian singing, Chetana also incorporates music and instruments in her classes. In 2020, Chetana founded a Facebook group called “Beyond The Sticky Blue Mat’, with a bold mission to empower 30,000 women with life skills to lead a more fulfilled and purposeful life. A very positive person who looks for the positives in life, in others and in any situation, Chetana sees challenges as an opportunity for growth and acceptance and applies this philosophy in all her teachings and own life.
