Valerie Hamilton is a highly respected midwife, yoga teacher, and educator with over three decades of experience supporting women through the profound transitions of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. With an approach that bridges clinical wisdom and holistic care, Valerie offers deep mentorship to up-and-coming midwives and doulas seeking to embody presence, skill, and heart in their work. A registered nurse and midwife, Valerie has been walking alongside birthing women for over 33 years — combining her clinical expertise with a grounded, compassionate presence. Her passion for integrative maternity care led her to specialise in prenatal and postnatal yoga, completing her Diploma of Yoga Teaching with the International Yoga Teachers Association (IYTA) in 2001, followed by a Diploma in Pre and Postnatal Yoga in 2012. Valerie has since become a trusted educator within IYTA’s teacher training programs, guiding the next generation of yoga teachers in safely supporting women through the perinatal period. Valerie holds a Master of Midwifery (UTS, Sydney) and a Graduate Diploma of Health Research (Griffith University), reflecting her ongoing commitment to evidence-based practice and reflective learning. Her unique strength lies in her ability to integrate medical knowledge with yogic wisdom and body-based awareness, offering a model of maternity care that is both grounded and expansive. As a mentor, Valerie creates space for emerging midwives, doulas, and perinatal professionals to reflect, grow, and build confidence. She offers guidance on how to hold space for birthing women with integrity, how to work in alignment with the natural rhythms of the body, and how to blend traditional wisdom with contemporary care. Her mentorship is not about rigid frameworks, but about cultivating intuition, presence, and trust in oneself as a practitioner. Valerie is passionate about helping others find their voice and vocation within the birth space. Through mentorship, she invites her students and mentees into deeper alignment with their purpose — encouraging them to step into their roles with clarity, self-awareness, and respect for the sacred journey of birth. Whether in the studio, clinic, or circle, Valerie brings a rare blend of gentleness, wisdom, and rigour to her work — empowering those she supports to walk their own path with strength, compassion, and grounded confidence.
