Lisa is a registered physiotherapist, certified coach, best-selling author, yoga teacher, workshop facilitator, keynote speaker and mother. As a registered physiotherapist for 27 years, Lisa has been teaching yoga anatomy with a focus on women's physiology for more than a decade. Lisa is passionate about supporting yoga teachers to create safe, healing spaces for their students. It was during Lisa’s first role as a physiotherapist, working with chronic and end-stage disease in a hospital that she made the heart-breaking realisation that many illnesses are preventable. Yoga and lifestyle, she realised, were key to illness taking hold in the body in the first place. According to Lisa, many chronic health issues can be attributed to poor movement and lifestyle habits, posture and alignment issues as well as the presence of the emotional and psychic influences of stress and trauma. Yoga is an effective technology for the prevention of disease and holistically addresses many facets of wellbeing. Her primary focus now is in women’s wellness physiology, particularly pelvic health. In the yoga community, a high percentage of women yoga teachers and students have pelvic floor issues that are a consequence of practising without specific awareness of the pelvic floor. Many yoga practices were originally designed for the male body, which has placed female bodies at risk of injury particularly involving the pelvis. Lisa also teaches ongoing yoga classes for mental health. She has been deeply and profoundly touched by the experiences of students who are addressing and healing their trauma. As the founder of Sacred Women's Business Coaching, Lisa is passionate about empowering women to inhabit their bodies and find their authentic voice in the world, with her unique embodied leadership approach. Lisa believes that when women feel safe to express themselves and are courageous enough to address past traumas that may still reside in their bodies, it creates a feminine shift, which is genuinely what’s needed to restore balance and equality and heal our troubled world. Lisa believes that spiritually aware and sensitive women who are prepared to commit to their life purpose, take leadership roles and authentically speak their truth, will support a healthy and sustainable planet.
