Askam is a breathwork practitioner who guides people on their unique journey of discovery and wisdom as he holds space for them, helping them connect to a deeper sense of who they are. Allowing for the resolution of trauma, early conditioning and birth memories that limits people from realising their spiritual nature, Askam believes everyone is on a journey of unfolding and that the outcome of breathwork, while it cannot always be seen immediately, is a deepening sense of who you are and a fuller sense of presence. This presence then allows people to move into deeper relationships with themselves, with others, with their work and their daily lives. Askam’s previous career was as a clinical psychologist, dealing with trauma, abuse, troubled adolescents and a wide range of other mental health issues. He sometimes draws on his previous expertise to assist his clients as part of his breathwork sessions. His own “waking up” experience involved the diagnosis of a heart condition and a reconnection with himself, which eventually led to his coming out of retirement and pursuing breathwork as a newfound passion in 2020. Askam loves sitting in presence with people, as they discover their true nature and allow their true sense of self to expand. He believes that allowing yourself to be “witnessed”, as you work through issues such as abandonment, trauma or unworthiness, and experiencing the sense of loving acceptance from your breathwork practitioner or even from the participating breathwork group, is an important factor in healing. Askam also works with his partner Kimbra, a Kahuna massage therapist, helping clients with issues around love, sex and intimacy through Sexological Bodywork®. Kahuna (four-hand bodywork) and sexological bodywork sessions are available on request. He is based in Ballina, on the far north coast of NSW. Read more
