Tracy is a Gamilaroi woman, Accredited Practicing Dietitian, Certified Wayapa Wuurrk Practitioner and Facilitator of We Al-Li’s Dadirri and Culturally Informed Trauma Integrated Care, Practice and Healing Approach workshops. Whether you want to develop your cultural capabilities and praxis, or you feel disconnected to the environment around you and want to reconnect and contribute to caring for our collective Mother Earth, or you’re seeking a holistic approach to your health and wellbeing, Tracy works with those wanting to contribute to positive systems change. Tracy adopts a personalised, holistic, culturally-centred and trauma-informed approach to foods, food systems and environments, health and wellbeing. She believes through two-way sharing of knowledge we foster understanding and grow stronger in self, mind, body, and spirit wellbeing. Growing up with a paddock to plate way of eating, Tracy has always had a great appreciation of where her food came from and what it took for her to eat it. She has experienced times of having little food, so has a deep understanding of how to nourish the body on a budget. Tracy is a survivor of an eating disorder that she battled with for 11 years following the death of her father in a car accident, as well as being a survivor of renal cancer and now living with one kidney. As a mother, she understands the primal need to provide her daughter with food that nourishes not only her body, but her mind, culture and spirit. At university, Tracy was taught a very Western biomedical approach to nutrition, health and wellbeing. She acknowledges that this knowledge is incredibly important and assists greatly in ensuring that as an accredited health practitioner, she does no harm. However, Tracy’s cultural self also views health with a holistic lens, as illustrated in the Aboriginal Social and Emotional Wellbeing Model. Feeling a deep connection to our Mother Earth, she was drawn to Wayapa and Dadirri after graduating university as she was seeking to fill the missing parts of this “pie”, finding the perfect blend across these two modalities. Tracy understands the synergistic relationship we have with nature and our environments, the healing power of nature, and the power of understanding and connecting to our environment so we can work towards healing as a collective. Her 100% Aboriginal owned business is based on Gubbi Gubbi/Kabi Kabi Country on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. She truly believes in the strength and healing power of understanding the impacts of trauma and revitalising and sustaining connections to traditional foods, lands, and practices. She warmly invites you to join her. Read more
