Margaret is an Art Therapist and Wayapa Wuurrk Practitioner who is passionate about finding ways to help people connect to nature through art and conversation. Margaret helps her clients explore life’s challenges and navigate the anxieties of our rapidly changing world, always attentive to their wellbeing and spirit. She takes a holistic approach and a perspective informed by art, love of nature and a long career as a bookseller talking to people about their favourite stories and artists. Margaret has been an artist all her life, coming from a line of artists on her mother’s side and innately aware of the connection between art, wellness and mental health. In her younger years she was a founding member of Sylvester Studios art collective and while loving solitude, believes in the power of people coming together for good. After tragically experiencing multiple bereavements in a short period of time, she found out firsthand how healing art and nature can be and moved to Melbourne to be an artist in residence at St Vincent’s Hospital. She undertook practitioner training with the late Dr Rafael Locke (founder of Ikon Institute and SOTEMS), exploring environmental art therapy and the Medicine Wheel approach. Margaret was profoundly happy to come across Wayapa Wuurrk and incorporate earth connection with environmental art. She loves her Wayapa family, and has found that the practice of Wayapa, whilst rooted in Australia, has encouraged her to explore her Celtic background more deeply. Since becoming a qualified Transpersonal Art Therapist and certified Wayapa Wuurrker, Margaret has facilitated numerous workshops including a guided Wayapa meditation at the 2022 Zero Waste Festival Melbourne, a Wayapa workshop at the inaugural Narrungdera Earth Festival in 2022, and art therapy workshops for relaxation using the mediums of collage and drawing. Margaret welcomes you to get in touch for an initial chat about your wellness journey and explore how creativity and nature can support you in finding your path. Read more
