About
Shane is a certified Wayapa® Wuurrk practitioner, cultural tour guide and Indigenous bush food specialist. He loves the mutual respect for the Earth that Wayapa® fosters, with innate knowledge that we are not bigger than one - we are all the same system. While some people are very connected to space and energy and Country, others are brand new. By introducing Wayapa® Wuurrk movements and sharing more about the elements, Shane finds that Wayapa® is a great avenue to find connection and reconnect... By introducing Wayapa® Wuurrk movements and sharing more about the elements, Shane finds that Wayapa® is a great avenue to find connection and reconnect what has been disconnected. Through his work with Dwayne Bannon-Harrison facilitating cultural tours for the award-winning Ngaran Ngaran Cultural Awareness, Shane shares the cultural practices and knowledge of the world's oldest living culture. It was through this work that he was introduced to Wayapa®, and was instantly drawn in due to his love of connection to the elements and grounding to Earth. Shane completed his Diploma in 2022, and since becoming a certified Wayapa® Wuurrk practitioner he has taught Wayapa® for tourist groups, corporate groups, educators and students across local Yuin schools and at the University of Wollongong. As a trained pastry chef with a background in exercise science and over five years of experience working in Aboriginal health and chronic care, Shane’s whole life has been about healthy eating and moving your body. Introducing Wayapa® into this mix has brought that critical element of connection into these two worlds. He finds this is greatly missing in modern life, and Wayapa® helps to create that much-needed balance to connect us all back to who we are and how we used to live. He combines this rich experience working with Dwayne in Mirritya Mundya (which means hungry blackfish), providing an Indigenous twist on food for tours and Community by using native ingredients and infusing it with other cuisines. Always drawn to the great outdoors, Shane is an avid runner of marathons and ultras and loves connecting to Country with his kids by chasing waterfalls, bushwalking and teaching them about bush foods. Shane warmly invites you to join him to learn more about the Wayapa® way. Read more
