Perla is a therapeutic voicework and sound healing practitioner whose life’s purpose is to help others with their own “com-music-ation” experience. She has over 40 years of experience as a facilitator of women’s dance and African drumming circles and her rich life experiences have seen her sing and perform everywhere from Machu Picchu to the Pyramids to Italian churches to the Taj Mahal. Perla loves helping others channel their own songs and melodies with full intention to nurture their voice. Her warm and approachable nature makes everyone around her feel welcome, and she loves the instant accessibility of the African drums to make even the shyest person feel included. She has a gift for being at one with the group and encouraging everyone to have a go. Working with a broad range of people, Perla is particularly passionate about helping other practitioners and healers who are being called to free their voice for vocal sound healing. A lifelong intuitive musician and performer, Perla initially studied jazz ballet in the 1980s before progressing to learning and teaching belly dancing. In 1996, she went on a study tour of Ghana learning African drumming and dance and went on to create and tour Australia-wide with her own successful African percussion group Obrobini for over a decade. In 2013 she discovered sacred sound and voice, studying with Silvia Nakkach at Vox Mundi Project USA and doing several studies in vocal culture with Vox Mundi throughout Brazil and India. Through regular voice training and practice, Perla knows that everyone can create their own medicine melody. She invites you to join her for movement, rhythm and finding the gold in your voice.
