A breathwork practitioner, yoga therapist and author, Liisa is a living testament to her own practice. Despite doing yoga, meditation and other self-help courses for decades, it took a course in breathwork for Liisa’s life to change from the inside out. When Liisa came across breathwork, she was struggling with her marriage and emotional pain. Her husband had been diagnosed with anxiety, so they did the course together and in the space of a week, the anxiety was gone and Liisa quickly went on... A breathwork practitioner, yoga therapist and author, Liisa is a living testament to her own practice. Despite doing yoga, meditation and other self-help courses for decades, it took a course in breathwork for Liisa’s life to change from the inside out. When Liisa came across breathwork, she was struggling with her marriage and emotional pain. Her husband had been diagnosed with anxiety, so they did the course together and in the space of a week, the anxiety was gone and Liisa quickly went on to do a year-long breathwork training program. This proved to be the missing link that transformed her internal life, her marriage and ultimately her external life. Through deep emotional healing, Liisa’s marriage improved dramatically, as did her relationships with herself and others. She thought she would never be able to have children, but to her surprise had two children naturally. She believes the combination of breathwork and yoga is a powerhouse. She describes it as lower chakra work - digging out the pain and seeing how our defence systems work and getting to know ourselves on a very deep level. Breath, she explains, is one of the body's own natural release mechanisms, something we do naturally but have unfortunately learnt how to suppress. Liisa has worked with individuals and groups since the early 2000s and loves working with highly driven people. She brings her personal experience and vulnerability into her practice, encouraging people to examine their defence systems, peel away the layers and discover their authenticity. Liisa developed an app called Inner Freedom, which offers a six-week course to break free from anxiety. She is also the author of A Crash Course in Emotional Freedom and will soon add a course of the same name to the app. Outside of work, Liisa loves getting out into the elements – surfing, skiing, walking and stand up paddle-boarding.
