Lars trained as a chef and is a senior yoga teacher who has been practising for over 18 years. Working with people from a broad age range and at different life stages, Lars knows you don’t have to have powerful muscles or flexible limbs to enjoy yoga. Lars trained as a chef and is a senior yoga teacher who has been practising for over 18 years. Working with people from a broad age range and at different life stages, Lars knows you don’t have to have powerful muscles or flexible limbs to enjoy yoga. It’s not about performing on the mat, but rather coming to understand who you are; getting to know yourself by focusing on breath and movement. Many of his regular clients are in their 50s and 60s and love that the practice of yoga not only enables them to feel better in their bodies and improves their strength and flexibility, but it also helps them to keep up with their grandkids. Lars values the chance to witness the excitement of someone who touches their toes for the very first time and the lightbulb moments when the elements of the practice start to connect and make sense. Watching how people change as they pursue this discipline, developing softness, tranquillity, and strength as they come to a better understanding of themselves, delights him. In 2004, Lars first qualified in Ki Yoga at the Zen Renaissance Healing Centre, where he also gained his Shiatsu Diploma. He then studied with Mat Bergan at Dancing Warrior, obtaining his qualification in Hatha Yoga and completing the Dancing Warrior Teacher Training Course in 2013. Continuing to deepen his understanding of this exciting and challenging discipline, he has attended courses at Yoga Synergy and also those run by the esteemed Clive Sheridan. Having worked for many decades as a chef, and then studying wholefood and macrobiotic cooking, Lars is interested in the ways we become more aware of how what we eat affects us. For those of us who are curious about the relationship between food and the body and mind, he is able to offer advice about how to nourish and support the changes we are undergoing. Lars devotes much of his time and energy to practising and teaching yoga because he believes it offers benefits ideal for coping with the increasing demands of the era in which we live. Yoga involves fostering a synchronicity between self and the world—the micro becoming part of the macro. And by taking yoga with us out of the studio and into our daily lives, we will find dealing with our aches, pains, disappointments, and struggles a lot easier. It is for all these reasons that Lars invites you to join him on the mat. Read more
