Dr Kylie Barr is a yoga teacher trained in yoga therapy with a bespoke career that intertwines her research and clinical practice. In 2021, she completed her PhD which examined the practice of yoga in patients with end stage kidney disease for the improvement of physiological and psychological health and wellbeing. In 2021, she completed her PhD which examined the practice of yoga in patients with end stage kidney disease for the improvement of physiological and psychological health and wellbeing. Kylie is passionate about working with seniors, individuals and groups, particularly those experiencing chronic illness and stress. Kylie began her yoga journey in 1996, and ever since, the philosophy and practice of yoga has become an integral part of her life. Kylie completed formal teacher training in the tradition of Sri T. Krishnamacharya in 2012. She has an Advanced Diploma of Yoga Studies and Teacher Training (500 hours) from the Yoga Institute and is an accredited member of Yoga Australia. In 2015, Kylie also completed training in Yoga Therapy with Dr. Ganesh Mohan of Svastha Yoga and Ayurveda (300 hours). Her teaching experience has included yoga classes at Royal North Shore Hospital, and volunteer programs for the Wesley Mission School for Seniors and The Yoga Foundation. As part of this work, Kylie was also a regular volunteer yoga teacher for Cerebral Palsy Alliance. Integrative and complementary medicine research and policy is a part of Kylie's ongoing professional work. In addition to her PhD in Integrative Medicine, Kylie holds a Bachelor of Health Science with first class Honours. She also works as a Researcher with Western Sydney University which has expanded her insight into alternative forms of health care. With a strong interest in working therapeutically, Kylie designs personalised one-on-one yoga therapy practices for her clients, leads regular group classes and private yoga sessions.
