Joanne is a healthy aging and wellness advocate who is passionate about empowering people to live a loving, healthful, quality life through the practice of Tai Chi and Qigong. With over 25 years of experience in the wellness industry, Joanne’s career has focused on human relations, emotional intelligence, personal empowerment and natural wellness modalities. Her lifelong passion for teaching has led to a fascinating career which has included teaching scripture and choir, working as a learning... Joanne is a healthy aging and wellness advocate who is passionate about empowering people to live a loving, healthful, quality life through the practice of Tai Chi and Qigong. With over 25 years of experience in the wellness industry, Joanne’s career has focused on human relations, emotional intelligence, personal empowerment and natural wellness modalities. Her lifelong passion for teaching has led to a fascinating career which has included teaching scripture and choir, working as a learning facilitator with teenagers with behavioural challenges, and being a wellbeing consultant in an aged care facility where she was able to introduce healing therapies such as massage, meditation, drumming and Tai Chi. Joanne has always been in awe and wonder of how our bodies function, its innate intelligence to heal, and our place in the universe. As a young mother, Joanne was introduced to Qigong which gave her time out to be, a way to move her body, feel the energy and feel good. Her connection to the practice remained and she loves the flow of movement and the connection to nature that the practice gives. Joanne has completed numerous certified trainings with Dr Paul Lam’s Tai Chi for Health Institute including Tai Chi for arthritis, diabetes, osteoporosis, energy, rehabilitation, heart, memory, 24 yang style, and sun 73 form as well as Qigong for health with Simon Blow. In 2016, Joanne decided to start teaching her own Tai Chi and Qigong classes. Starting with one class a week, this had grown to 12 classes per week including working with an Indigenous Drug & Alcholoh Rehab centred voluntary work with Shoalhaven Sub-Acute Mental Health Centre! She is Certified instructor at the Tai Chi For Health Institute, a Qigong Level 2 instructor with Simon Blow Qigong, an essential oil educator and a love and kindness light worker. An experienced facilitator for corporate wellbeing days and aged care wellbeing, Joanne is heart-centred, open and a clear communicator with proven abilities to empower, motivate and inspire people to live life from their hearts. Located in Sanctuary Point on the stunning NSW South Coast, Joanne has created a beautiful community through her Tai Chi and Qigong classes. She teaches in the localities of Sanctuary Point, Vincentia, Huskisson and Nowra. I have been training and practising with Joanne over the past 4 years. She truly is an amazing teacher. She greets you with her beautiful smile and loving energy, as she holds space for the group. She continues to study and expand her knowledge, sharing her wisdom and experiences through her teaching. Joanne encourages you to work at your own pace and level during class and whilst practising at home. Joanne has attracted a wonderful group of like-minded people. Even though we are all different we have connected, supported and listened to each other (our Qigong family). We are encouraged to listen to our bodies as we flow and connect through each movement and form. These experiences allow me to clear my mind, connect internally and move in a meditative state. I was truly fortunate about 7 years ago to discover Joanne’s Tai Chi and Qigong classes. I was searching for “something” to alleviate... I was truly fortunate about 7 years ago to discover Joanne’s Tai Chi and Qigong classes. I was searching for “something” to alleviate and counter balance the stress, work and life had become. Little did I know that the practices that Joanne taught and the way they would be delivered would become one of my life’s truest blessings. Joanne’s ability to share her passion, commitment and love of Tai Chi and Qigong is an ongoing gift to all her students. Being in her class means you gain expert knowledge in a welcoming, caring, kind and inclusive space. Joanne is a truly dedicated professional and practitioner continuing to be a student herself engaging in many opportunities to learn from the Masters of these ancient practices. Joanne’s classes are not just an hour in time to acquire invaluable skill sets. However, it is because she values each and every one of her students and meets them where they are in their life , that her classes become a nuturing space. A time to learn life giving practices, a time to discover about yourself and to be awakened to our connections to Mother Earth and the Universe. Over the years I have had the absolute privilege to learn from Joanne and my fellow classmates. I regard them as my Qigong family where I am truly included and accepted, cared for and supported not only in class but in my daily life. Over the years Joanne has provided opportunities for all her students to come together to deepen their knowledge, to learn and practise from esteemed professionals in Qigong and other wellness practices. The feeling of chi (energy) within such groups is empowering, life giving and soul filling. To simply just practise Qigong under the shade of a huge old tree, where your feet are grounded on the earth and where the breeze is breathing nature’s gifts through your body and spirit is mind blowing. In these moments you truly become one with Mother Earth. Through Joanne’s classes I have improved my balance, flexibility, body strength, spatial awareness, memory, co-ordination, mind focus during meditation and deep breathing techniques. My health and well-being have improved immensely. I have learnt soulful meaningful practices that have become a part of my daily life. I have learnt that I have all I need within my body, mind and spirit and the daily practice of Qigong and meditation to nurture and enhance my well being and health. I have discovered an inner peace through mediation and within the Qigong practices, so as to enter into a stillness where healing and growth transcend. I am in gratitude to Joanne for sharing her deep understanding and passion of Qigong and Tai Chi. I am so grateful for the gentleness and joy that radiates as she teaches each and every class from her heart. Classes are very special times of my week. Throughout my life I have encountered many teachers. There are those that can just teach and those that through their teaching make an extraordinary difference in your life. Joanne is one of those teachers. My life is so much richer because of her, what she has taught me and the wonderful people I have had the privilege to share classes with. Joanne has shared her extensive knowledge and experience of Tai Chi and Qigong with others for many years. She does this with love and genuine care for each individual. I feel blessed to be one of those individuals. Joanne motivates and empowers you to be the best you can be, and gently guides you, each step along the way. The practices help you to strengthen your mind - through breathing techniques and meditation, your body - through gentle movements that target the entire body, and your soul - through love of self and others. I have found both Tai Chi and Qigong practices to be immensely beneficial for my overall physical and mental health and wellbeing. I have experienced improvements in my joint flexibility and in my balance and strength. I always look forward to attending the classes, doing our practices, and spending time with wonderful people. We share a lot of fun and laughter together and genuinely care about each other. The sense of love and belonging does wonders for the soul. Joanne is always willing to listen, to answer questions about our practices, and to discuss any issues we may have. Joanne has shared her extensive knowledge and experience of Tai Chi and Qigong with others for many years. She does this with love and genuine care for each individual. I feel blessed to be one of those individuals. Joanne motivates and empowers you to be the best you can be, and gently guides you, each step along the way. The practices help you to strengthen your mind - through breathing techniques and meditation, your body - through gentle movements that target the entire body, and your soul - through love of self and others. I have found both Tai Chi and Qigong practices to be immensely beneficial for my overall physical and mental health and wellbeing. I have experienced improvements in my joint flexibility and in my balance and strength. I always look forward to attending the classes, doing our practices, and spending time with wonderful people. We share a lot of fun and laughter together and genuinely care about each other. The sense of love and belonging does wonders for the soul. Joanne is always willing to listen, to answer questions about our practices, and to discuss any issues we may have. Starting Tai Chi and Qigong classes with Joanne several years ago was one of the best decisions I have made in my life. Read more
