Jose has had a flourishing international career in arts, health and yoga and as a faith healer and medicine man. Over the last 30 years, he has covered almost the entire spectrum of experience, from producer and administrator of large-scale events to an innovative artistic director in the fields of dance, film, theatre, yoga and music. Jose now brings his decades of experience as an artistic prodigy to Forrest yoga. He brings his passion, playfulness and heartfelt respect for the ceremonial traditions of the First Peoples to every Forrest yoga event. A musician and songwriter, Jose uses the language of music to convey messages of the spirit for which there are no words. Jose’s music invites students to attune to the cosmic vibrations all around us, which helps us realise that we are that vibration: his music is an invitation into the feeling of coming home. Jose’s music is written from a sacred place that is very healing and is able to penetrate where words do not. He is also the Director of the legendary Australian Indigenous company Descendance Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Dance Theatre. Descendance has been performed in over 40 countries and at many of the world’s premier events and festivals. It won the UNESCO competition as the world’s best Indigenous live show in a field of over 70 countries. Jose was also at the forefront of the world music and dance movement in the 1980s as a Director Producer and Performer with his companies “Flamenco Dreaming” and “Antonio Vargas Flamenco Dance Theatre”. In 2014, Jose met international yoga legend Ana Forrest in Sydney. They now bring their two worlds together, pushing the boundaries of yoga and music. Jose’s experience as a faith healer and medicine man and as a co-director and teacher has seen Forrest yoga bloom and evolve into fearless new horizons. Forrest yoga now incorporates ceremony, music, dance, ancient healing techniques, veganism, and First Nation philosophies. Thousands of students have undertaken Forrest yoga teacher training over the years, bringing their personal discoveries and growth with them to share with the world. When they’re not travelling the world teaching workshops, Ana and Jose live on Orcas Island in Washington, USA. They love experiencing different cultural practices, believing that we are all branches of the same tree and that culture is about sharing. Join Ana and Jose for breath, integrity, strength and spirit. Read more
