Esther is a Wim Hof Method instructor whose mission in life is to bring more happiness to others and improve the quality of their lives. The Wim Hof Method (WHM) is based on three pillars – breath work, cold exposure and focus/commitment – and by teaching her students how to incorporate these three practices into their daily lives, Esther believes people can become the best version of themselves. Benefits of the method can include reduced stress, a balanced immune system, enhanced creativity, increased energy, better sleep, greater resilience and heightened focus and determination. Esther had worked in the jewellery trade for 20 years, but when she found herself depressed and with a number of health concerns, she began to reassess her life and went on a long search for a new path. After reading books on all kinds of subjects, Esther met with Buddhist monks, learned reiki, took up martial arts, meditation and yoga and rekindled her love of nature and gardening, slowly working on improving her own health and happiness. She also took on a new role as ski instructor. When Esther attended her first WHM workshop in the Netherlands in 2018, she realised it was everything she had been searching for. After practicing WHM for only a short time, Esther felt better able to cope with her worries, it helped her meditate better, calm her mind, feel more in touch with her body and in control of her health, and more resilient in the cold. Esther also felt that she had more energy and that the method helped her with injury recovery, menopause and arthritis. Overall, she felt happier. The results of WHM vary from person to person depending on their needs, level of commitment and how their body responds to it, Esther says. She loves seeing her student’s faces light up when they gain a sense of empowerment, find their power and gain control over their body. Esther believes many people have lost the connection with their bodies and that WHM helps to regain this connection. Esther offers fortnightly workshops at the Somerville Recreation Centre on the Mornington Peninsula and in winter, from the ski fields in Mt Hotham where she also works as a ski instructor. Read more
