Denie, whose spiritual name is Devpreet is an associate-level teacher trainer of Kundalini Yoga with more than 12 years experience and has been a practising gestalt therapist since 2019. With an artist’s heart and the soul of a philosopher, Devpreet’s passion is to create a safe healing space so others can step into their own power and truth. Devpreet believes that it is everyone's birth-right to live in their Sat Nam - their truth. To go beyond their obstacles and fears so they can live the happiest, healthiest version of themselves. Kundalini is the yoga of awareness and her yoga classes provide a powerful, transformative, heart-centred experience. She feels there are many paths to self-discovery, and self-healing happens more easily when approached from a place of deep listening and compassion. Gestalt is known as the therapy of awareness and Devpreet finds it is a great platform to bring in the environmental and social contexts of a person’s life. Its relational approach enables a person to access a deeper sense of connection to self and others. Devpreet has a unique background. She played professional soccer for the Matildas in the mid-1990s and was also a film-maker, creating a short film that was shown in competition at the Cannes Film Festival in 2006. It wasn’t until her mid to late thirties that an old soccer friend took her to a Kundalini class. Devpreet had never done yoga before and when she walked out of that class, it was a feeling that the weight of the world had been lifted off her shoulders. When the sense of pure liberation hit her, she knew it was something she had to pursue and share. Denie's spiritual name is Devpreet. It means “the one who lives in sublime consciousness with love and compassion”. Dev is the carrier of the light and she receives great joy from seeing that light re-emerge in others who she teaches and serves. Her football background filters through her teaching. Her sessions are powerful, transformative experiences, without being confronting. She likes people to challenge themselves so they can step into their power, guiding them always with compassion. Devpreet is also a scenic artist, writer and sculptor who loves to create safe healing spaces to bring people together in community so they can connect, heal and grow. She founded the first not for profit Kundalini Yoga Collective which ran for seven years, Queeralini Oz - a safe supportive space for queer yogis in Australia; is the Director of the Collective Healing Centre and the Kundalini Yoga Festival Australasia.
