In 2008, she created and owned the first yoga studio in Penrith at the foot of the Blue Mountains, running the studio for more than 10 years. After many years of running a successful yoga studio, Carmen has pivoted her focus and has evolved online where she feels she can share her love for yoga to a larger community. She has created accessible online classes while honouring the value of human touch by making personal connections through regular workshops, retreats and events at different locations around Australia and internationally. Coming from a stressful professional career, Carmen started practising yoga for the physical and mental benefits. As she became more involved, her fascination and love for learning led her to a wonderful life journey as a yogini. Carmen started attending spiritual retreats at the Brahma Kumaris spiritual centre Leura and Satyananda Yoga in Mangrove Mountain seeking understanding and knowledge of yogic scriptures and philosophies. In 2006, she took the life changing and challenging decision to become a yoga teacher and studied at Samadhi Yoga under the tutelage of Advanced Certified Jivamukti Teacher and Kundalini Yoga Teacher, Katie Manitsas. Carmen also travelled to India to attain her Kundalini teacher qualification under the guidance of Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa. Passionate about the physical world, our environment, sustainability and Indigenous knowledge of our connection to Earth, Carmen found herself drawn to Wayapa® Wuurrk and completed her Diploma in 2020. She now weaves yoga and Wayapa together, connecting mind, body, spirit and now connection to Earth for her students. Originally working as a tax accountant, Carmen has combined this knowledge with her experience in running a successful yoga studio and is currently creating an online business course for the wellness industry. Carmen aims to cover the gap between completing yoga teacher training to opening your own studio or running a wellness business by focusing on business planning, budgeting and many other first-time business owner essentials. She is also currently studying permaculture to incorporate into her life and to further share knowledge with her students. Carmen looks forward to helping you create the most authentic life, and in doing so, uplift the lives of those around you. Read more
