EARTH Body Mind Spirit

As I write here in the early summer evening on the Australian east coast, I am aware of the last of the summer cicada's singing in the descent of the sun over our western hills. To the east the waves are a constant communication, rolling and sometimes pounding into our beach - each one with a different message with those for the ears to hear.
And just outside my window a couple of kookaburras are calling. Around here in Yuin Country, it's understood they are communicating with the divine forces and imitating their amazing sound is seen as a travesty. See if you agree: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXA0-YAoo9Q
For years, those of us working in Traditional, Complementary, Integrative Healthcare (TCIH) have been working towards a reunification of Body, Mind and Spirit. This trilogy, that we now bandy around when talking about the healing journey of our clients and ourselves needs addressing.
Healing/wholeness/reintegration doesn't happen in a vacuum. There is another important part to the healing journey and that is EARTH.
Tomorrrow I will head down to the beach, shoes off and rocks, road and leaves between my toes to dive under a selection of those waves at dawn and feel the new day vibrate every string and drum of my body.
EARTH is the reason for getting well, for staying well. Reciprocity. Healthy Country = Healthy People. We are nature and our family includes the trees, the winds and the rising moon.

Jennifer - I love this Thich Nhat Hanh quote. He was the perfect example of healing by bringing us all back to being here , rooted, connected and fully present. Amazing how a monkey mind can wander and get us into all sorts of stages.
I never had the chance to visit Plum Village over in France but always thought that his ringing of the bell every 20 minutes to keep everyone mindfully mindful was a masterful thing...and absolutely necessary to change the habit of mind and the constant tendency towards disconnection.

Dear Cate
This article reminding moi of this quote
Sit upright
Sit with solidity
Sit in peace
Donโt let your thoughts lift you up into the air
Sit so that you can really touch the Earth
And be one with her.
You may like to smile brother/sister
Earth will transmit to you her solidity
Her peace and her joy.
With your mindful breathing,
With your peaceful smile
You sustain the mudra of Earth Touching. (Thich Nhat Hanh- Call Me By My True Names 1993)
Connection to Earth is our Home, connect & she will provide, sustain & nourish you. Mother Nature, the eternal unconditional love is always there if we touch & spend time remembering her which abides in all of us.

Each pigeon is a godsend Nuth ... may the birds prevail

Thank you for sharing Cate, so lovely! Sadly, there aren't many birds here in the city, Phnom Penh, Cambodia. It feels like a blessing to sometimes witness a few pigeons hanging out near the window ๐

birds! Angkor Grace! both fill me with awe. This morning I swam with pelicans, a broadspanning eagle, egrets, curlews and some kind of migratory bird with the clearest call. Thank you for sharing Demetreus

That resonates with me, Cate.
It's 8am here in Cambodia and I'm sitting outside in the lush gardens of Angkor Grace entertained by the diverse sounds of the birds that have made our resort their home.
This experience drives a special kind of uplifting energy that connects to your core and readies you for a wonderful day!

Not so oddly when we ran a series of interviews on 'Managing Anxiety' with our amazing practitioners--- 6 out of 6 mentioned being in contact with nature as a fundamental strategy. Here is Cherie Levy sharing her thoughts on just this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E4A70nrnapk&t=4s.
